Request pickup or deliveryOur least hot blend: a gentle, biologically rich start for seeds and seedlings, early root health without burning tender growth.
Starting from seed is exactly what this blend is for. For established plants moving into bigger pots or beds, step up to Original Living Soil or Gold Blend.
What's inside
- Country Roots biologically active vermicompost
- Peat moss and coco coir for water retention
- Perlite for aeration and structure
- Basalt, gypsum, black lime, and soft rock phosphate for mineral diversity
- Humates, fulvates, and kelp for trace nutrients
- Active biochar and mycorrhizae for microbial support
How to use
- Moisten the soil before potting so hydration spreads evenly
- Fill containers loosely, without packing
- Water as needed and avoid overwatering
- Once seedlings emerge, top with a thin layer of soil to support upright growth
Which soil?
- Seed Starter: the least hot. Seeds, seedlings and clones.
- Gold Blend: moderate. A 50/50 coco and peat potting soil with less compost and minerals, so it stays workable if you like to feed from the bottle.
- Living Soil: the hottest. The most compost and minerals, about 10% coco, built for bigger pots and beds you keep growing in.
- Hot Coco: like Gold Blend on straight coco, no peat.
Plenty of growers layer them: Living Soil in the bottom of the pot, Gold on top.
Which size?
1 gallon repots a single houseplant. 2 to 3 gallons handles a few containers. 1 cubic foot fills about 7 gallons of pots. 27 cubic feet is a full cubic yard: enough for a 4x8 raised bed filled 10 inches deep.
Not sure? The Soil Calculator takes your beds and pots and does the math for you.

A note on shipping: mailed orders are priced by weight at checkout, and soil is heavy, so it adds up fast. Bigger amounts are farm pickup or local delivery, and we are glad to help you find the best option: countryrootsltd@gmail.com or 231-452-6430.
